  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

This Week's Teaser:

“He leaned back in his chair and rubbed his chin. What were the chances that this was the same Darcy? Pulling himself back up to the computer, he logged into his Facebook account and searched for a Darcy White in his area. After scrolling through the results, he grinned. There she was, just as beautiful as ever. She sat on a chair with a beer in her hand and a smile across her face, and she appeared to be having a good time. He scrolled quickly through her info, and then matched the email address listed on her page with the email address in his inbox.

It was her. ”

―Lacey Wolfe. Wanted: Wife .

I'm reading this one for a blog tour and it seems pretty fun right now! Let's see how it goes. :)

Harry Potter Moment of the Week #8

This is a meme hosted by Leah Woods over at Uncorked Thoughts. The aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object or quote from the books/ films/ J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related!  This weeks is:

Best odd thing from HP

(Dumbledore's chamber pot incident, the mad knight etc.)

 Barnabas the Barmy.

An enormous moving tapestry depicting Barnabas the Barmy's foolish attempt to train a group of eight trolls for the ballet hung on the seventh floor corridor of Hogwarts Castle, opposite the entrance to the Room of Requirement. The small group was portrayed by a forest clearing, and some of the trolls were hitting Barnabas with their clubs.

I just need to understand why Barnabas felt the need to train trolls. To show that trolls could be tamed? I'm not really sure. But I've always imagined watching the tapestry and Barnabas repeatedly being clubbed by the trolls and eventually be sat on.

Imagine being famous for being so bonkers.

What do you suppose is  the best odd thing?

This Week's Teaser:

“Jenks felt numb to her very core. She had known all afternoon that something was wrong, but not this. She tried taking deep breaths, but her strenghth failed her. Tears began to well in her eyes, and she nearly choked while speaking. "What happened to her?" ”

Dumbledore's Army vs. Inquisitorial Squad,

who would you choose?

Pretty obvious there ain't it?

Dumbledore's Army all the way!

Dumbledore's Army, also known as the D.A., was a secret organisation initiated by Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley to teach their fellow Hogwarts students proper Defence Against the Dark Arts, made necessary by the refusal of Dolores Umbridge, to teach anything in her classes other than textbook theory.

I love how the D.A started off as a means learn Defence Against the Dark Arts and went on to be more of a resistance against Umbridge's tyrannous regime. One thing's for sure, even if I didn't join the DA I don't think I could ever, EVER bring myself to join in with the Inquisitorial Squad...

They really do need a Slytherin or two. I think I'll just squeeze in next Michael Corner there.

Who would you choose?

This Week's Teaser:

“Reason fourteen.” I press my forehead against hers, locking her in my gaze. “You are so beautiful. Inside and out. I don’t just need you. I crave you. Everything about you. You are the only person I’ve felt this way about. You’re my best friend.”

―Becca Ann (alias. Cassie Mae). Reasons I Fell for the Funny Fat Friend .

Heard sooo many good things about this one. This book is funny, period. But it's just not clicking with me so far. I like so many things about it! The chapters are split into reasons why Brody falls for Hayley, the FFF. Here's how it starts off, and tell me if you don't want to pick it up right away?
Reason 1 : You know how to sign the word 'balls'

Best HP Memory.

Hmm.....

I don't really have any "best" memories. Great ones for sure. There was the time I read The Tales of Beedle the Bard with my mates. The time we watched Deathly Hallows Part 1 together. I'd been away from my fellow potterhead besties during Part 2, most of us in different places and we couldn't watch it together.. :(

Oh and the time my whole class was in an uproar when Deathly Hallows (the book) came out and we found out that Fred dies *sniff* and the fact that Harry ends up with Ginny. We all were expecting Hermione and Harry to end up together!!

And not to forget the time 2 of us got together and took a snap pretending to be witches. Me with a paintbrush in my hand substituting as a wand and....... don't ask.... :P So that is one picture I'm not going to be posting on here!

So those are my memories! Any memory involving HP is bound to be great. And my best ones have always been with my friends! :) Of course I'm still waiting for the time I visit the Universal Studios in Florida and the sets AND Kings Cross Station. ;)

There it is! Which is your best Harry Potter memory?

This Week's Teaser:

“And that's just it, isn't it? That's how we manage to survive the loss. Because love, it never dies, it never goes away, it never fades, so long as you hang on to it.”

“It's okay,' he tells me. 'If you want to go. Everyone wants you to stay. I want you to stay more than I've ever wanted anything in my life.' His voice cracks with emotion. He stops, clears his throat, takes a breath, and continues. 'But that's what I want and I could see why it might not be what you want. So I just wanted to tell you that I understand if you go. It's okay if you have to leave us. It's okay if you want to stop fighting.”

―Gayle Foreman. If I Stay .

It's two quotes today. This is my first audio book. And gosh these book is so good! The narrator is soo darn fabulous!! The voice changes, the hitch in a character's voice, the laughter, the sadness. Aah! I'm a little late reading this one, but late is soo much better than never.

P.S- Thought I'd mention, the second quote is the main character's granddad saying the lines. Just the thought behind that offer!

Harry Potter Moment of the Week #5

This is a meme hosted by Leah Woods over at Uncorked Thoughts. The aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object or quote from the books/ films/ J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related!  This weeks is:

Favorite book (from inside the books)

Its a tie.

I cant seem to choose between these two.

The Tales of Beedle The Bard
&
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

The Tales of Beedle the Bard are a collection of children's stories. Children's stories for wizards and witches to be specific. Me and my friends had borrowed this one from our school library. I remember the book sitting between the three of us, as we perused the pages of stories and the weird illustrations. Don't ask me why I found them weird, I just did *shrugs*. It also holds significance to the characters in the series, therefore I pick this. My favorite stories in this one were The Fountain of Fair Fortune and of course The Tale of the Three Brothers.

Next up, Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them, this book of course, is seen throughout the Harry Potter series unlike the former which was only introduced in The Deathly Hallows. This book is great! We find out about the creatures mentioned in the books and those few that we know nothing about. I especially loved the little scrawls of writing by Harry and Ron (more often than not, i expect Ron) in the book. It's funny to read and it's something I can't help but do in my own text books!

So this is it! What are your favorites?

This Week's Teaser:

“Love transforms our fragile, cowardly hearts into hearts of stone, hearts of blade, hearts of hardest iron. Because love makes heroes of us all.”

―Kelly Barnhill. Iron Hearted Violet .

I really, really enjoyed this one. I was expecting a really light-hearted middle-grade read. This book is actually dark. Lovely really. Hope to put up the review soon :)

Favorite character history (from the books, Pottermore etc.)

Who's the most badass professor we know??

Minerva McGonagall !

God this woman is exceptionally brilliant.

There was never much we knew about McGonagall's past, so yes I was curious. Very curious indeed. But along came Pottermore which let us know soo much more about her!!

Her father was a muggle who didn't know anything about the wizarding world, she had a love life ( *gasp!* ok, kinda... sorta...) , her husband died of a venomous Tentacula bite, three years into their marriage....

Oh just read about her yourself would ya!! Pretty Pleaseee!

All in all, she was one wicked, kickass witch, who wasn't afraid to fight it out.

This Week's Teaser:

“I roll my eyes. 'Are you trying to find some sort of reason that I've become such an asshole? The reason is... I'm an asshole. There are some things in life that can't be explained. Period. Assholes are assholes. Rainbows are pretty. Kittens are cute. Chic flicks are sad. It's the way of things, no explanations.”

―Courtney Cole If You Stay (Beautifully Broken #1) .

This book is a nice read really. Not great but not bad either. I enjoyed Pax's POV while as Mila just seems to be.. Meh.....

You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers — but you have to know — the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Rachel of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!

This Friday's question :

Happy Mother's Day! Who is your favorite mom from fiction?

Favorite mom?

There's no doubt about that really. Molly Weasley of course!!

“Not my daughter you bitch!”

Epic line I tell you! This takes place during the Battle of Hogwarts when Mrs.Weasley takes on Bellatrix Lestrange for trying to kill her daughter Ginny. This bit just shows that Molly Weasley is not only the fluttery, jittery mom they usually show her to be but is pretty hard-core as well! So yeah!

Favorite Moment from Book 1

Diagon Alley

I'm not really sure, since I love absolutely everything from the first book. Harry and us readers too getting introduced to the wizarding world. Whats not to love?

If I had to choose I'd choose Harry's first look at Diagon Alley. All the people rushing about in robes, all those intriguing stores, owls, frogs, broomsticks, Gringotts! We're just starting to view all the fantastical-ness (I hope that's a word...) ourselves through Harry ofcourse.

So yeah, other than that there's the scene where Harry is baffled by Platform 9 3/4 and Hagrid leaves him hanging! There's the bit where Hermione goes "It's Leviosa, not Leviosaar" and Ron replies............. .Oh I could go on and on with moments, so I better stop before I start describing each scene in detail..

This Week's Teaser:

“Only the very weak-minded refuse to be influenced by literature and poetry.”

-------

“Remember when you tried to convince me to feed a poultry pie to the mallards in the park to see if you could breed a race of cannibal ducks?"

"They ate it too," Will reminisced. "Bloodthirsty little beasts. Never trust a duck.”

―Cassandra Clare Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices #1) .

The first teaser said by Tessa Gray, I chose because I totally agree with the line.

While the second, I happened to open a random page and after flipping a page or two found this one. This is a conversation between James and Will and it was too funny for me to pass up and not post it here.

Thoroughly enjoying the book so far. Can't wait to read more!

Feature & Follow Friday #11

Increase Blog Followers, gain Book Blog Followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome!

Give us a sneak! What are you reading? Tell us about a fun or fail scene in your current read.

Hmm..

Well I've just, just started reading Clockwork Angel, like literally right now. So I don't really much to say about it now. I'll tell you about my last read, Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl, which was read as part of Young Adult Blogger Book Club.

So there's this incident that happens where Lena Duchanne (female protagonist) runs out of her english class after a bunch of students verbally bully her and in a fit of rage she happens to shatter the windows of her class. Obviously the male protagonist Ethan runs out after her to find her in a lemon grove. She's laying down tears streaking her face, watching the sky all the while asking him to go away. And then this happens :

“As I lay down, she sat up, I sat up, she laid down, I laid down. Awkward.”

I might have been smirking at the lame-ness of that scene above now. But when I read it then, you could've heard crickets chirping in the background. I just stared at the page dreading anything that came beyond this.

Harry Potter Moment of the Week #2

This is a meme hosted by Leah Woods over at Uncorked Thoughts. The aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object or quote from the books/ films/ J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related!  This weeks is:

Favorite Newspaper

The Quibbler

I would certainly peruse through The Daily Prophet. But a favorite? The Quibbler ofcourse!

The Quibbler is bound to be far more fun to read than The Prophet could ever be. With Xeno Lovegood's far-fetched conspiracy theories and the numerous (no-doubt imaginary) beasts and creatures mentioned, it would never be a dull read.

There is also the question of Ministry control. As shown during the wizarding war, The Prophet can not be relied on to pass on news that matters. Ofcourse The Quibbler does not really publish very many things that matter either, but atleast cannot totally be controlled over by the Ministry.

post signatureOfcourse other days I'd probably sit down with a copy of Witch Weekly...

Harry Potter Moment of the Week #1

After vowing to take part in this meme oh so long ago, when Leah Woods initially posted that she would start a Harry Potter Moment of the Week. I have finally brought myself to take part. So here it is, HP Moment of the Week!!

This is a meme hosted by Leah Woods over at Uncorked Thoughts. The aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object or quote from the books/ films/ J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related! She will be picking a topic within HP for us to focus on each week and then if anyone wants to take part feel free! All you need to do is link back to her blog  :). There is now a full list of the topics to come here. This weeks is:

Favorite House

"Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure"

Ravenclaw

Okay I'll let you know, I'm a Slytherin and proud of it.

But there was always something really intriguing about the Ravenclaws. The colours , their motto, the fact that Ravenclaws animal is actually an eagle and NOT a raven. (Like what's with that? )

For those who have read the books, you would know that the ravenclaws don't just enter into their common room by saying a password. They actually have to solve a riddle. And if they don't? You just wait for the next person to come by and solve it, that way you learn you see. I mean how smart do they have to be!

Maybe it's the fact that in real life I have a chance of getting into any of the houses except Ravenclaw. I'm just not intelligent enough for them. So it's more like me being in awe of the ravenclaws really.

My second favorite has to be Slytherin because duh, I belong to that house! So next time someone asks me which my favorite house is, I most probably will say Slytherin.

Lol. This is a perfect description of me. I'm perfect for Slytherin.
